My First Cover Shoot
Milks Alive was my very first cover shoot and a lot of time and consideration for many factors for this project came into play. First thing, my client is located in California. After many email and chats on the phone, I was able to put together an image composition in my mind and presented the idea to the client. Once the concept was approved and confirmed, the fun part of the process began! I then went shopping and purchased all the necessary food and set props and began the creating process.
I understand as a photographer, we love capturing images that express our sense of style as an artist of an image maker. However, working on a commercial project is all about the client’s vision and what they wish to convey to the world. Branding, color palette, mood, framing and most important, the composition plays a huge part in the final image because the image is most likely going to have company like text and particular fonts styles and in some cases other images are added into the mix. Everything needs to fit in a particular place in the frame, with, around or on the image. This is the part where working with an Art Director and/or Graphic Designer, in this case, Diane Rigoli came in to play because the Graphic Designer knows where everything is going to be, what size frame the image needs to be and where the text is going to be placed on the image. The photographer and the graphic designer have to be in complete harmony with one another to create a the perfect composition of the final image.
This project was a wonderful experience and I am very proud to have been part of such a great team of people. I had the image matted and framed and it is now hanging in my office. I recently received my own copy of the book from the author Rita Rivera the creator of Milks Alive and I really look forward to starting a new journey of healthy eating and share this special image with you. We hope that if you are looking for someone that has the experience of Still Life/Product Photography and need a Photographer to work with you on your next commercial idea, we hope you choose GRAB PHOTOGRAPHY for your next project and look forward to working with you.
